By request from a reader I’m going to make a post about the
orders Mary has received through her nine years of marriage which is actual on
this exact day.
Three days before her marriage in 2004 the then Mary
Donaldson received her first order: The Order of the Elephant which is the highest
order in Denmark. The light-blue silk sash is placed on the left shoulder with
the elephant resting against the right hip. During the New Years Court the sash
is replaced by a golden collar.

In November 2005 the King Harald, Queen Sonja and Crown
Prince Haakon of Norway paid a two-day official visit to Denmark. At the visit
Mary was granted the Grand Cross of St. Olav. As it was only a month after the
Crown Princess had given birth to Prince Christian we didn’t get to see her
wear this order at the visit itself. We had to wait until February 2007 when
Mary attended the birthday celebrations of King Harald in Oslo. The ribbon of
the order is red with white-blue-white edge stripes.

In May 2007 it was King Carl Gustav, Queen Silvia and Crown
Princess Victoria of Sweden’s turn to visit Denmark. At the visit Mary was granted
with the Order of the Polar Star. The visit took place just a few weeks after
Mary had given birth to Princess Isabella and as well as with the visit from
Normway we didn’t get to see her wear the order at the visit itself. It wasn’t
until the wedding of Crown Princess Victoria and Daniel Westling in 2010 that
we saw Mary wearing her order. The ribbon of the order is blue with yellow
stripes near the edges.

During a state visit from Brazil in 2007 Mary was presented
with the Brazilian Order of the Southern Cross. The colour of the sash is quite
similar to the Order of the Elephant although the Brazilian order is quite
wider and then goes from right shoulder to left hip.

When the Greek President visited Denmark in 2009 Mary received
the Order of Beneficence. The ribbon of the order is yellow with blue edges.

And the last pictured order of this post is the Order of the
White Rose of Finland that Mary received earlier this year when the Finish
President visited Denmark. The colour of the ribbon is dark blue.

Mary was also decorated with the Order of Stara
Planina of Bulgaria in 2006. The order isn't placed in a ribbon but in a bow on the right chest.
